Owner and Founder
Jasmine’s favorite quote honoring the words of the late Toni Morrision, “You are not the work you do; you are the person you are.” Jasmine is a Boston native who enjoys traveling, supporting black owned businesses, and finding origins of sampled music!
Owner/Founder of Roots Unraveled, Jasmine provides mental health services to black and brown women as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. Jasmine holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Tuskegee University and a Master of Social Work with a certificate in Urban Leadership from Simmons University.
Over the past 10yrs, she has practiced social work as a clinician in community health centers, family homes, hospitals and schools. As Vice President of the Greater Boston Association of Black Social Workers her commitment to social action is embedded in her daily practices. She currently serves on the professionals board for Friends of the Children-Boston and the African-American Alumnae/i Association at Simmons College. She is a lifetime member of Girl Scouts of Eastern MA and co-facilitates a local troop. Fueled by a mission to empower individuals and communities, she firmly believes that collaboration and compassion are essential for effecting meaningful change.
Aisha Straker (She, Her, Hers)
Aisha is a Junior at Simmons University studying Social Work and Pre-Med. She has experience in working with non-profit organizations, research and evaluations. Aisha believes mental health support should be accessible to everyone and is an advocate to eliminate barriers. Outside of school and work,Aisha is a active Squash player!
Jasmin McElroy (She, Her, Hers)
Jasmin McElroy M.S., M.S., MSW is a license eligible social worker. Jasmin is an authentic, hardworking, and growing Social Work professional with 3 Master's degrees, in Investigation, from the University of New Haven, Psychology from Southern New Hampshire University and Social Work from Louisiana State University. She has 7+ years of work experience, within the Department of Youth Services, Office of Community Corrections, educational, substance use, unhoused families, residental settings and LGBTQ+ youth. Jasmin is an adaptive, and an enthusiastic learner, and likes to have well-established communication and interpersonal skills, and is client centered and focused. In her spare time she likes to dance, do things with two pups, and read. Jasmin believes that it's never a failure always a lesson and to let go of your anchor so you can sail away.
